Football In The Community

The BBC have an article today about the community initiatives across England at each of the Premier League clubs. There’s a link to the community page of each club’s website, and they make interesting reading – and there’s probably a few ideas there that we could borrow for ourselves!

At Raith Rovers I believe we manage to do an awful lot on limited resources – leading the Twilight Football initiative alongside Cowdenbeath FC, participation in Show Racism The Red Card, strengthening Adam Smith College’s course offering by involving them at the heart of Raith TV – but there’s always more we could do. Where community initiatives can really work at a club the size of ours is when they create win-win situations, so that there is a benefit to the community but also to the club. Raith TV is a fantastic example of this – the local student community get something they didn’t have before, and the club get access to leading edge facilities and a group of enthusiastic, talented and committed people who are already on the path to professional careers in the broadcast media.

Here’s the BBC article – what ideas would you like the club to “borrow” and put into practice up here?
