More Clarity Required for SFL Clubs
Reports from last week’s Scottish Football League meeting suggest that the majority of clubs, including half of those in the first division, want a clearer idea of the financial choices before committing to more talks with the SPL. The two organisations will now wait for the SFA to arbitrate on the status of the SPL’s payment to the SFL. The key issue is whether the money is payable in full to the SFL or not.
The 22-8 vote in favour of stopping talks with the SPL makes any changes to the league structure remote this season but doesn’t rule out talks resuming after the arbitration decision.
